Two worlds, one signature.

One fascination connects us: what a place does to people. Babita starts from people, Stefano from the space. Where those two views meet, Trace & Tone begins.

Trace is the mark a place leaves behind: a scent you recognise, an image that lingers. Tone is the sound and the mood of that place. Together they are what we make.

It started with a question neither of us could let go of: why does a place so often smell like a catalogue and not like itself? We do everything together, and we are only satisfied when a place truly feels like itself.

Ever since she was young, Babita has been fascinated by people: how they respond to one another, what moves them and what happens beneath the surface. Scent turned out to be the shortest path to that feeling. It reaches emotion and memory before we even think about it. That is how she became a perfumer. Yet her view reaches beyond scent alone: what music does to a mood, what a work of art evokes and which words stay with you. As an entrepreneur with a network in the sector, she also knows what a place needs in practice.

Stefano is fascinated by the way an environment shapes how people feel. Music is his first way in: he spent many years with it and still loves it. He also has an eye for material, form and detail, shaped by his experience as an entrepreneur in construction, design and fashion. How much the right environment means for the way people learn is something he saw, among other places, as a director in education. That is why atmosphere is never an afterthought to him: it decides how you experience a place.
